The award-winning set design brings theater goers into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Once the curtains open, the audience is hit with an air of familiarity that is unmatched by any of the other productions on tour or on Broadway. There's somewhat of an adjustment period to get used to seeing other actors playing some of these legendary characters. J.K. Rowling herself mentioned that when she first saw Harry Potter and The Cursed Child LIVE it was tough for her to see Professor Snape, the character, with his back to the crowd and expecting to see the late Alan Rickman's face when he turned around. There could be those heavily emotional moments for you as well on this Thursday night if you're a big fan of the franchise.
Ultimately, the story being told on stage and the way that it's set up helps people to adjust their eyes a bit. That way, when you get to the climax of the play, you're looking at "Harry Potter" as the character without hoping to see Daniel Radcliffe. Come at your own risk knowing, that you're getting a roller coaster of nerves and feelings with Harry Potter and The Cursed Child. This ride is much more memorable than anything that you can find at Universal Studios. Maybe what makes this play so intriguing is that it sticks to the tone of the movies. It would've been a complete mistake to try and turn this into a corny musical to compete with something like The Lion King. Most fans would've never bought the idea. Harry Potter isn't on that level of corny, and therefore, a story within this world on stage shouldn't be either.
It's essential to find the right spot to experience this show at Ohio Theatre. A lot of work has gone into that set design to make people believe that they are truly getting on a train at Platform 9 at Kings' Cross for you to be blind to those details! Finding a place toward the middle of the theater in a row that's maybe a little elevated could be ideal. People are running to see Harry Potter and The Cursed Child live. Don't be one of those fans who missed out because they didn't click the get tickets link fast enough. Do it now; worry about everything else later.
