The story

The story, drenched in the vulnerability of teenage boys to roughness and anguish, the struggles of have-nots in a world of have-its, the trepidations and confusions of being young, strife, teen angst, and, of course, romance, made it to the stage of the La Jolla Playhouse in 2023, and opened at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on Broadway in 2024.

Its unique blending of sound, lighting, movement, no holds barred story, and prodigious cast mostly comprising debutantes, oozed with the thrill of newness and blew audiences from all walks of life away. ‘The Outsiders’ racked up no less than four Tony Awards, an Outer Critics Circle Award, two Drama Desk Awards, a Theatre World Award, as well as a Chita Rivera Award.

If you’re a fan, you’ll remember Ponyboy Curtis, Johnny Cade, and the lot, the violence between the two rival gangs and working-class ‘Greasers’ and the upper-middle-class ‘Socs’ in 1960s Tulsa. If not, you’ll meet them soon enough, and you’ll fall in love.
