THE PLOT

Marty and his friend, Dr. Emmet Brown a.k.a. Doc, who happens to be a scientist, find themselves in a whirlwind adventure across time. Doc invented a time machine but after an experimental run, he became severely injured. Marty drives the car to bring Doc to the hospital but accidentaly accelerates the machine to 88 miles per hour, triggering a time-space anomaly and ending up in 1955. Now, Marty has to find a way to go back to his time with the help of 1955’s Dr. Emmet Brown, who was still in the process of conceptualizing the time machine. Marty encounters many characters, including his parents and his father’s bully, among others. Will Marty be able to go back to his timeline and save Doc? CREATIVE TEAM & CAST

American screenwriter Bob Gale, who wrote the original Back to the Future screenplay, comes in as bookwriter for this incredible new musical. The music and lyrics are provided by Grammy winning composer Alan Silvestri and Grammy Winning and Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Glenn Ballard. The musical is directed by Tony winning director John Rando and choreographed by Chris Bailey. The production also brought in the outstanding talents of incredible designers, such as Tony winner Tim Hatley on scenic and costume, Nick Finlow as music supervisor and arrangement, Olivier Award winner Tim Lutkin on lighting, Chris Fisher on illusion, and Olivier Award winner Gareth Owens on sound. 

The cast is also a magnificent line up of stellar talents. The touring cast includes David Josefsberg as Doc Brown, Lucas Hallauer as Marty McFly, Mike Bindman as George McFly, Zan Berube as Lorraine Baines, and Nathaniel Hackmann as Biff Tannen.

The musical has garnrered a plethora of accolades. In 2022, Back to the Future received seven Laurence Olivier nominations and won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical. Over at the WhatsOnStage Awards, the London production also won four awards, including Best New Musical, out of nine nominations. In 2024, the musical received five Outer Critic Circle nominations and two Tony nominations.
