At the end of every year as we are planning out our next season - we always ask : how can we turn it up a notch for all our concert go-ers and the classical symphony and song nuts out there in the O-H, like me you and the crew! And this year we think we’ve got it down : our Masterwork Series featuring hits and fan favorites from all the greats in Classical. And THAT’s why we’re so excited to bring the Symphony Orchestra in for Mozart’s Requiem - one of the most moving and iconic works to ever be created - right here on Saturday the 24th of January, right here for all of us and the crew! Guaranteed to be an evening of music that comes with all the history, mystery, and emotion in every single note. Led by Music Director Rossen Milanov, this performance is gonna be one of those winter nights where the vibes of outside collide with all the feels we have in this place. And lucky for us - we got you tickets right here for the whole show!
Under the direction of Rossen Milanov, the Columbus Symphony and Chorus bring this masterpiece to life with the precision and passion they’re known for. Since 1951, the CSO has been a cornerstone of Columbus’ cultural identity : filling our downtown with sound, spirit, and unforgettable performances season after season. There’s no better place to hear a work like this than right here, in their home, with this orchestra. There’s something unmistakable about hearing Requiem live. A piece that came in the making during Mozart’s final months of life, from the very first chord you feel it - all the weight, the drama, the beauty that Mozart was festering as he made the piece. This is NOT just background music for just a random holiday drama scene. This is music that demands your attention and rewards you for giving it. The thunder of the Dies Irae, the aching stillness of the Lacrimosa, the soaring choral lines that seem to rise straight into the Ohio Theatre’s gilded ceiling - it all hits just a little differently when you’re in the room. You don’t just listen to this piece. You experience it. - and THAT’s why you need to be for it when Mozart’s iconic story comes to life right in front of our eyes - right here in the front row!
So whether you’re a longtime symphony regular or stepping inside the Ohio Theatre for the very first time, this night is for YOU. Bring a friend, dress up a little, and make sure to take it all in. Mozart’s Requiem is a moment, and we’re so ready to include you in. We’ll see you right here in the crowd in chair 10.
