This Christmas, The Nebraska Theatre Caravan is once again performing a live adaptation of the Charles Dickens novella, the timeless tale of Ebenezer Scrooge in A CHRISTMAS CAROL. The Nebraska Theatre Caravan is the professional touring wing of the Omaha Community Playhouse. The Nebraska Theatre Caravan has performed in 160 Nebraska cities as well as hundreds of other areas around the country since it was founded in 1976. Since then, it has presented over 100 fully staged performances, many of which were brand-new works. Over 3 million people have seen A Christmas Carol throughout its nationwide tour, which has appeared in over 600 locations across 49 states and 4 Canadian provinces.
The Nebraska Theatre Caravan has had the honor of bringing the wonder of A Christmas Carol to towns throughout the country for more than 40 years. Each Christmas season, our touring business, venue partners, and customers anticipate this event. However, due to COVID-19, they decided to pause their productions for the health and safety of their cast, team, as well as the audience. They resumed online production in 2021, and since then, they have been back on stage. This well-known Charles Jones rendition of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol is alive with color and movement, filled with exhilarating ensemble music, and designed to portray this grand and lasting story in a way that people of all ages will love.
This year, Nebraska Theatre Caravan is giving you the chance to experience the timeless tale of Ebenezer Scrooge as he takes on his journey to redemption. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge has visits from several spirits, beginning with his former business partner Jacob Marley. The three ghosts who appear after, the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, demonstrate to Scrooge how his vile behavior has impacted people around him. At the conclusion of the tale, he is happy to learn that there is still time for him to change, and we see his transformation into a kind and compassionate person.
